XLT for prospecting?

Anyone use there XLT or Eagle Spectrum for nugget hunting? If so, how does it do? I know it won't be as good as an MXT or GMT, but will they do a pretty fair job when used in the Prospecting Mode? Thanks for any replies.

you just can't beat having another detector model in hand that is better suited for the task at hand. I know because I have nugget hunted a good deal in years past, especially after getting my first XLT when they were released and wanted to work with and learn the various factory programs and any functional custom settings.

Yes, I worked with my various XLT's and all the available factory search coils.

If I were limited to pick from an aluminum pie plate on a wooden broom stick, or a colorful Frisbee attached to an extendable aluminum shaft, or an XLT, I think the XLT might have a slight advantage.

If I had the option of a favorite nugget hunting model, such as a Tesoro Diablo

Thanks Monte. So between the MXT and the Gold Bug Pro, which wold be your choice for use for coins and nuggets?

[size=large]if i may interject here. don't forget the PI machines. i'm understanding they are the better gold finders. don't know, never had one and only seen them on you tube. if ya go for the gpx seriea yer looking at big bucks. but it don't matter if yer finding lots of gold. anyway don't forget the PI. there's a forum for those i believe.

along with my Omega and VX3 and on more, and the most used is the MXT Pro w/6

Well, i know that Lead isn't Gold but i took 2 #5 lead shot which would weigh about 5 grains or .3 grams and flattened them out together to make a sort of nugget and my Eagle Spectrum will hit solid on it to about 4 1/2" and still get a faint signal at about 6". Then i took 1 #5 shot which weighs about 2.5 grains or .15 grams and did the same and it will hit it at 4". Now i know these are air tests and not in the ground but i figure the Eagle would do ok on gold larger than a 1/2 gram and i really don't want to be digging little flakes anyway. I know another fella that has found a lot of nuggets with his old 6000 Pro so i guess until i can get a good Gold detector the Spectrum might do ok.
