XLT E-Series VS Spectrum (Rainbow)

Dig It

New member
What is the difference?
Does one go deeper then the other?
Quicker recovery time on E-series?
Can you upgrade a rainbow to a E-series? Cost?
Thanks in advance, Keith

Had both not much difference suppose to have a little faster processor in e series and more pixel in screen which make the screen a little slower than the old.Have not noticed any difference. So if you get a better deal on a spectrum and in great shape i would go for it.Just my opinion.

The faster processor only applies to the speed at which you can click through the menu's so no really benefit. For improved performance , little deeper/little smoother, the long box Spectrum is the one though its heavier and has less programme slots.

Does the xlt e series and the spectrum run the same programs and are they both programed the same then. I see books wrote to create better programs for different areas and was wondering if they would all us the same thanks for any info xraydave

I owned an XLT and the Eagle Spectrum at one time. Yes the XLT has some advantages. The faster processor, the newer battery style, smaller lighter electronics box and it does not lose programs when the battery has been removed for a period of time. I can tell you for a fact I liked the Eagle Spectrum better. The coin sounds had a much nicer rolling sound to them and for every place I detected here in Indiana, the Eagle's depth was also superior to the XLT.
I dug several dimes at a measured 13" with the Eagle Spectrum. On a regular basis I could outdo the XLT. But the maybe I just had more ground time with the Eagle?
Ground and field time is very important to learning the detector you own! Everyone developes a "feel" for what they have and use on a regular basis. Some detectorists outdo others with similar macines.
Practice, practice, practice.

I ended up selling the XLT and kept the Eagle. I also own the DFX300 and the V3i. The old Eagle just sits in the closet now, but it is a great machine!
This is all just my opinion based upon my experiences, yours might be better with the XLT, good luck!
