xlt-e on the beach at Destin/Ft.Walton

You might as well dig everything for awhile until you learn the signals, pay close attention, foil tends to break up the tone. The XLT is very accurate IDing American coins if you are in the USA. I've had gold and silver rings sound and VDI as trash. I'm in Germany, dig almost all targets as the coins here have been made of every kind of metal possible, LOL! Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your first experience. HH, Mike

Just my opinion, Andy, but.. I say set as low of disc. as you are comfortable with and dig every ( and I mean every ) signal. I found a nice seiko-kenetic watch with my XLPRO when the meter said trash. I have had some luck finding jewlery in the pulltab range too though. Most of my gold finds were below the gold range on the meter, around 8 to 12 vdi. I havent used a XLT but I believe it to be similar to the XLPRO in performance. I know some will beg to differ on that statement and I can't really prove them wrong. However I hunt sometimes with a gentelman who does and our little test show me the two machines are similar.
