XL PRO,

Bowie

New member
got it yesterday, but it was to late to try it out.
Got out for about two hours today at an older church, only found a bit of clad. Played around with the settings, tried GEB SAT, and GEB Disc.
Got an 8 inch coil with it, thats what I was using. Will get the 6 inch next month. It swings as easy as my M6 with the 6 inch coil. For some reason I had to turn the signal strength down just a tad from the preset, whereas in this same location, with the M6, I can run it a tad bit higher than preset and not get any chatter. Maybe its the coil size difference.

I have a XL PRO and it is still my top coin hunter.
I use the 6 inch coil most of the time on my XL PRO.
Your XL PRO can go to China to get the old and deep coins.

Hi John,

Totally different type detector than the M6 and best to forget comparisons on how to setup and operate. You have a new beast to tame. Good Luck with your XL Pro. HH Bill

Thanks bill(de),
Yep I am learning that. Ive got several weeks of vacation coming up so I will have some learning time. Weather permiting. I like how smooth it sounds when it hits a target. Its been so long since Ive used a machine with a threshold;today I was using the XL Pro in GEB Disc and the threshold would null and I thought whats goin on, Oh Yeah dummy, its going over a target thats been tuned out in disc.
Well, Ill run it round the block and learn it. I like being able to pull the trigger to place you in a different mode. Ive read the manual several times already and made a cheat sheet to carry with me.
Thanks
John

Every time you change the signal balance you must verify that the detector is still balanced correctly by re ground balancing the detector. This will verify that you did not increase the signal balance to much. At the point were the signal balance is at its most max position while allowing the detector to still ground balance is were you will get the best performance. Go just past were the detector stays balanced with the signal balance, then back the signal balance down slowly, a bit at a time re ground balancing each time till the detector balances ok. This is the spot were the XL Pro will perform its best.

The Xl Pro is set at max power from the factory, by balancing the detectors signal balance to max ( while keeping proper ground balance) will give you all the detectors available power for the ground being hunted at the time.( this is key with the XL Pro set up )

The XL Pro is a different beast than the M6 and the proper set up is a little different as the the same rules do not apply with the XL Pro detectors set up for best performance.

Take Care,
Bill G

Thanks for the info Bill G. Ive copied some post you made, on the analog forum. Im looking forward to learning it. I will get the 6 inch coil. Ive read some like the SAT mode and some like the GEB Disc mode.
I really enjoyed reading yours and others post on the Pro.
Thanks again,
John
