XL pro

Good afternoon, I would appreiciate, very much any useful information from anyone who knows and or used this machine. A couple specific questions; is it in the same league as the 4900, 5900, and 6000 XL pro series? Also, battery life and coil interchange with other models. Please be long winded in your response. I want to take this opportunity to very greatfully thank all for your for your help, I appreiciate this very much. jr, thank you again.

You can get answers here but go to the Analog detector forum, its just about those detectors. As far as I know it was just a name change so the 600xl could be in the pro series. Rob

You can buy if you can find one. I have a 9.5",3.5",8",5.3" and the 4X6" shooter coil for mine and I use all of the. Excellent machine and one of my top machines. Hope you can find one they are sort of hard to get in top notch shape. Try to find one that has some warrenty left. Most likley you won't but at least try. Mine had 22 months left on it and was brand new. Now that is getting lucky. I have seen them for $400 but don't pay more then $450 even in excellent shape. Good luck it is a great machine. :clapping: :D: :D: Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

I used a 6000D for 10 years before "upgrading" to an XLT which I used for about 10 years. Then I bought a Pro XL (new in Jan 06). Now the Pro XL is all I use. I forgot what I was missing with the analog machine. Not as many "gee-whiz" features as the XLT, but the Pro XL just functions better. Muuuuch smoother audio and meter readings. The meter accuracy is better. And I use the TR/DISC mode still sometimes too.

The Pro XL represents the pinnacle of analog design.

It's according to what you are looking for. If you want a no nonsense type detector that is easy to use then this may be what you are looking for. The XL-Pro is an updated 6000 DI Pro SL which is what I had. It is a 4 filter type in disc mode so in that mode you need to have a faster sweep speed than most of the newer ones. It has excellent depth if you crank up the signal balance. The meter is analog with pull trigger for depth meter. The meter ID is very accurate and is one of the best ever designed. I have bought and sold some detectors over the past 5 years and regret that I sold mine, if you get one think twice before you get rid of it. The analog type meter is easier to get info from faster than the digital type IMO. It's a great cruising type detector. Take time to learn it well.
