XL Pro with Black Max 950 coil? Is this coil stock?

Hello everyone.

I've been using my XL Pro detector for the past year or so with mixed success and recently found this forum, which I am hoping to use some of the tips I've read to improve my chances of finding some good/better targets.

Can anyone tell me if the Black Max 950 coil is the standard coil that would be on a Whites XL Pro detector?
I noticed that several posts suggested the use of the Blue Max 800 or 600 coil, so I went to the White's site to read up on them. While on the site I noticed that the Black Max is never mentioned... Is this "normal"?
The P/N on my coil is 624-0403.

Can anyone tell me what difference could be expected between the Black Max and the Blue Max?

Also, I see that different frequency ranges are available for the coils on the White's site. What is the correct frequency coil to get for the XL Pro?

Thanks!

The Blue Max and Black Max is the same coil, just different decals. The coil frequency for the XL Pro is 6.595 kHz. The original Black Max coil that came with the XL Pro is 9.5 inches in diameter. The Blue Max 800 is 8" in diameter, and the Blue Max 600 is approximately 6" in diameter. The Blue Max 600 will give you better target separation in trash laden sites, but you will lose some depth of detection.

The XL Pro is calibrated using the original Black Max 9.5 coil, and when you change to a smaller coil, you will lose accuracy on your depth meter, but it will have little affect on the accuracy of the I.D. of the coin. Also, The XL Pro's meter is calibrated for coin size targets. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)

I can tell you one thing get the hot shot coil it kicks ass on the XL

Regarding that "mixed success," here's a shortcut to a pile of first rate commentary. Find the "Search" box at the top of this page and click on it. When the form comes up, type in "Digger - Four Rules." After you have absorbed Digger's Four Rules, do it again and type in "Monte-XL Pro."
