Well, I've heard so many good things about this machine that I had to give it a go. I am very happy with the detector I have now, but wanted to try this one out.The unit I'm getting has the tone mod, and the 9.5 inch coil, and is in very nice shape. Any tips, tricks or advice with getting to know this new one would be appreciated from the folks that use them.
Thanks in advance!

Yup, it is coming from Larry. It was a pleasure talking to him today. OK, here's a "dumb" question: if I am going to use the ground balance tracking, is there any need to GB the machine at start-up? With my other machine, it was a step that was not needed if using the tracking mode.
Also, is there a DD coil that works well with this detector for trashy areas? Thanks.

Yes, you need to ground balance it, I usually lock it in once I balance it and if I catch my threshold wavering, I rebalance. Read the manual.
There is a small eliptical coil for it but Ive read it doesnt have decent depth. I use the 5.3 and usually when I have that on Im in a nasty place so I run it in SAT mode because it can be swept a bit slower than the disc mode. When you are in the SAT mode, you can always pull the trigger which will place you in the disc mode to further check out a target. That meter is usually dead on accurate.
I wanted to get the tone mod and wrestled with the idea for several months but decided against it. I bet its a nice addition. Probably would have if I had another Pro.
Let us know how you like it with the tones and how the machine works out for you.
Good luck,
John
