xl pro vs classic ID/ IDX

Eric

New member
I wonder what detector is more usefull in trash to use with a smaller coil. I hear so maney great things about both detectors.

appreciate any input......

Eric.

the Classic ID/IDX/IDX Pro, if you want to use a Target ID model, rather than the XL Pro or XLT or ..... any other faster-motion model.

I have found that the XL Pro/XLT units are good picks with an 8" coil for standard use, but many (including me) like to use a 6

Was hoping you would answer. Yes I only need it in trash. I got a very good deal. A like new ID [22 months warranty left] with the 8" proscan coil.[love this one] and the 5.3 and 4x6" for a very good price.

thanks, Eric. [your Dutch friend]

:hot:Monte is right about a slow-motion, quick-response detector for Hi trash area. But the XL PRO is not that bad with the 4 by 6 DD coil.
I hunt with a 4by6 DD and also would go over the area with the 6.5 coil and if I picking up good coins etc I would use the 9.5 for really deep coins.Using 3 type of coils I find the old and deep coins.
The good of this type of hunting is using one detector and learn it.
The XL PRO is my silver hunter. I also would get out the classic in a hart beat and still use the XL PRO for very deep coins.

I'd like to come across "an offer I just can't refuse!" :)

The XL Pro is no slouch in iron when using a small coil. 95% of my hunting is old mill sites and logging camps and the amount of iron and junk at these sites is extreme. Depth is not an issue at these sites so swing speed is not as important as discrimination and ID'ing targets close together. Now I don't believe the XL Pro is the best machine out there when it comes to target masking as I do have another detector that is better but I know the sound of discriminated iron when working these sites with the XL Pro and earlier 6000's and I know the unique sound of a good target close to iron which stops me in my tracks and this is where that great anolog meter comes into play. Believe me I don't watch the meter as I'm swinging. That would drive a person crazy for pete's sake. I'm listening for certain sounds. Once that sound is heard sweeping the coil at different angles will most often cause a bounce from iron to the identity of the good target close by. Using the pinpoint feature to size the target also helps identify good and bad targets close together. This doesn't mean that another brand or model of detector wouldn't work well also for different people at these sites but I've been using anolog meters and this technique for about 25 years and it has worked well for me.
