XL PRO, SSSSoooo many coils to choose from

I can't decide which I should get. I called a dealer today and looked at ads that had the full listing of available coils for the 6.59KHz detectors. I need to know the pros and cons of each type of coil so I can get the best bang for the buck! The list has: Blue Max shooter DD 3" x 6" coil, Blue Max 3.5" Loop, Bullseye 5.3" Loop, White's Royal 800 8.0" Loop and the Blue Max 15" Loop. I was told these are all currently made and available from White's. I plan on doing a lot of coin-shooting and possible relic hunting with this machine. Once in a while I'll take it to the beach for dry sand hunting. I really appreciate any help provided with this information! Once again, thanks!!!

one of the best coin shooting coils ever made is the 5.3 bullseye,or the 5.3 black max!..it is the same coil, with a different decal on it.
i have been hunting a long time, and have had a lot of success using the pro-xl with the 5.3 coil!..this combination is also extremely well balanced, and you can hunt with it all day!.you can still get down
7 or 8 inches,(depending on soil conditions),and this combo is excellent in moderate to heavy trash environements...you will be well served!

I agree with jmaryt, the 5.3 BM is the best general purpose coil. I like the 950 or 800 coils for scanning areas but prefer the 5.3 coil where targets are more condensed which is usually the case at my sites.I found the the Shooter coil very weak on the 6.59khz detectors, but love the 350 Snooper on the Classic's such as the IDX Pro because the quick 2 filter response time allows very rapid target separation.

I'd go with the 5.3 on an XL Pro for the best Bang for the Buck and is my favorite coil on an Eagle Spectrum and XLT for most hunting. Just an opinion. HH Bill

A great all around coil. Has best of both worlds. (9.5 inch and 5.3 inch.)

It is the main coil that I use on my XL Pro when I am coin shooting parks and such.

i truly believe the 5.3 is the best compromise, because of it's ability to respond with a "clear" signal in dense trashy sites.it does keep masking to a minimum, and still gets teriffic depth for it's size.
the 8" coil is a general purpose scanning coil, however it's ablity to separate targets in trashy environments is NOT as good as the 5.3
..the REAL reason i recommend it over the others,is because MOST areas
hunted today ARE heavily trash laden, and i feel from MY experience the correct choice for the conditions encountered to be the 5.3 coil.

hey Butch is that a new picture of you? just pickin' on you, bud...I have always thought the 7 or eight inch were great all around coils for parks and such. Years back most detectors came with an 8 inch coil but seems they all went to the the larger coils so they could claim more depth and then sell you the smaller coil later on. Hope you and Pam are well and happy!
