XL PRO MULTI-TONE "BITES THE DUST"----------

D&P-OR

Well-known member
I told Dan I would post what I found out about this tone mod.----After talking with the experts, I'm giving up on the idea.------But I tried--we still have ONE EXCELLENT DETECTOR in the XL PRO (tones or not).-----Thanks Dan, Jerry & Paul-------Best Regards, Del

Hi Del,

If Bill Larr sees me posting this he'll kill me, But he is the one who deserves full credit for inventing the first tone feature on the Whites analog SL model.

This only worked on the signal stack circuit board, Bill Larr is the man behind the first Multiple Tone feature on the Pro model.

Enjoy your Pro model for it still is a good detector without the tone feature,

HH, Paul (Ca)

THANKS AGAIN PAUL------I think your answer settles that question about the XL PRO multi-tone mod that a lot of has had for some time.-----Best regards, Del

Guys, I hate to say this but I have a XL-Pro that has multitone. It does work on the single stack board. I imported two of the kits from europe back in December 07 when they were still available. He only made 11 of the kits total and sold all in one buyout. I have one and a friend has one on his XL-Pro here in the US. XL-Pros are even better with this ultra rare mod!

Enjoy the mod! We are the only two in the country that has this mod

No schematic. It is a refined copy of the gentlemans that did it here in the states mod. All the IC chips have been sanded smooth so you can't see which ones he used. I can copy any circuit but without the schematic or at least the component list, it is near impossible. Anyone want to buy my XL-Pro modded for $1,000?:heh:
