XL pro GEB/SAT mode

Eric

New member
I have been using my XL pro today for the 2nd time. I played around with the searchmodes a bit and I have to say taht I really like to use the GEB/SAT mode. I like it even better than the disc mode.
I wonder if this SAT mode gives me better depth as well? Are there more XL PRO users that like the SAT mode for general detecting?

HH. Eric.

hello!.eric!
i use the geb/sat mode all the time when i find myself hunting in heavy trash!..i use the detector with the 6" coil on board, and i slow down to get better isolation of targets.the geb/sat mode will allow you to slow down without falsing,or masking signals!..the main reason why i use it!..this combo will get you the good stuff in trash!

Elton and John,

thanks for your answers. But can you also tell me how it will affect the depth if using in SAT compared to DISC? I just wonder....

thanks, ERic.

I also think it is deeper then the dis. mode. I do hunt in the trash and iron most of the time and it is a excellent mode to hunt it in. I have the 3.5" 4X6" 5.3" 8" and the stock coil. I don't ever use the 9.5" coil as I just never have a use for it. The different size coils just determine what kind of dense trash I am hunting. You might want to try the TR mode and adjust it for hunting in the mineralized soil. I think the procedure is on page 29 of your manual. This is even a slower hunting mode although it is not as deep as the Sat. mode. I can't get any depth out of the regular TR mode as the mineralization down here runs about moderate, but when you adjust it to mineralized ground it works pretty good. Not as deep as Sat. mode but the separation on targets is better in the iron due to sweeping a little slower. Of coarse the meter ID is the best there is and is dead on every time. I like it better the any digital meter machine I own. I don't like the Norm. mode as it is too fast for the trash. Once you really get used to the Sat. mode if you hunt like I do you won't use anything else. The XL PRO is one of my top 3 machines. I don't really care for White machines as they just don't do what I need. I have had them all and of all of them I really prefer the 6000XLPRO. Some of the best money on any machine I ever spent and brother I have had most of them. Far as depth goes in the SAT mode. Down here I get 5"s on the 3.5" coil, 6"s on the 4X6", 7"s on 5.", 9"s on the 8" coil. Now I am not talking a iffy signal I am talking a dead lock on the meter. Add a inch or two for the iffy signals. I know you PM ed me just thought I would answer it on the forum as maybe someone else can get some usable info out of what I posted to you. :D: :D: . The 6000XLPRO is a  detector. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

Thanks jerry!

yes I was curious because a few more people seem to like the sat/mode. I really tried the disc/mode a few times, but I really do not like it. I have confidence in the machine in the sat/mode.
Funny that you like the 4x6 coil. Most people don't like that coil for the IDX/ID/classics. Maybe it works better on the Xl pro then?

Thanks again for your usefull information.

Eric.

eric you can expect an inch or two better in depth, however everything is dependent on the ground conditions, and how fine tuned is the signal balace!..the message here is to make sure you have the detector balanced properly between the two for the conditions encountered...these adjustments are critical to acheive best performance from the xl-pro!..ground balance and signal balance!

When I use my XL Pro, I only hunt in GEB Disc; this has yielded me many great coppers and other various relics at 6-10 inch depths.

Its good that other people can help you learning a new machine. It really helps with a lot of questions as the manual is not always enough. I really like to read a lot about the xl pro. The funny thing is.......... Nobody talked bad about the XL pro.

:clapping:

this is true!.the reason for that is no one can really find fault with it!....very versatile, and in the hands of an experienced user can stay with the latest, and greatest!

even thought of switching to SAT after locating a possible deepie to see if it ID'd better. For some reason I don't like SAT...maybe because I want to sweep quicker...but there's no reason I can't fiddle with it once I locate a possible target in disc.
Thanks for the tip
