XL Pro Does It Again

Just last Sunday I found my oldest coin in my 33 years of detecting. Well, my brother Digger and I went back to the same spot and after about 6 hours of looking I found my now oldest coin an 1835 Capped Bust Half Dime. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would find either of these in SW Iowa. The only sad thing is that it has a hole in it. Oh well still a neat find. Also an 1889 IH and several buttons. The one flat top says VERY FINE QUALITY and has an eagle and three stars with and what looks like wheat at the bottom. It is almost exactly same dia. as a penny. Don't know what the silver plated piece may have been. Maybe one of you can offer some ideas. I'm still not believing this.

But it was my turn! Never the less, it is always great to spend the day huntin' with ya! HH Randy

Bill,
I gotta say luck has been with you! The Capped Bust looks to have very little wear. Too bad about the hole, but still a great find!

I nearly got skunked at the ghost town today! Too much brush, tall grass & small trees. I tried though! I did find a brass top section to an old kerosene lamp. Also found a couple of old whiskey bottles laying around. But no change - not even a penny! Got my sights now on some other old properties... (But it looks like cold & rain again for the next couple of days - drat!)

Excellent find! My area dates to about 1850 also and I never even thought about finding a bust coin around here but who knows. Maybe a bust or even a large cent is in my future after all.

Congratulations on the really great find. It is a fine looking coin.

I would be more than happy to brag about coins like it even if they had lots of holes if I could just find them.

By the way, keep swinging that XL Pro. They are truly outstanding machines.
