Just last Sunday I found my oldest coin in my 33 years of detecting. Well, my brother Digger and I went back to the same spot and after about 6 hours of looking I found my now oldest coin an 1835 Capped Bust Half Dime. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would find either of these in SW Iowa. The only sad thing is that it has a hole in it. Oh well still a neat find. Also an 1889 IH and several buttons. The one flat top says VERY FINE QUALITY and has an eagle and three stars with and what looks like wheat at the bottom. It is almost exactly same dia. as a penny. Don't know what the silver plated piece may have been. Maybe one of you can offer some ideas. I'm still not believing this.

Nothing sweeter than old silver and you can't see enough Busts. That's great, now go and break into the 1700's, though not much silver is around from that century. How about a pic of the Eagle button? Sounds like quite a spot you got there, good luck. Ron

I live in Sidney. Do you live in the area?
