First rule of metal detecting. If you rely on a meter for digging targets, sell you machine and find another hobby.Set your dis to where you want and dig all good signals...That is it...

Hey Mickey buddy!

The 6000 Pro has several things that come into play that will greatly effect depth accuracy,

(1) (Sensitivity) will effect depth readings, Increasing or decreasing the sensitivity will greatly effect the depth readings.

(2) (Coil size) is also a contributor with having different depth readings, Smaller coils create the depth meter to read deeper and larger coils boost the signal to read more shallow, So the analog depth meter will be more reliable when using the stock 9.5 coil.

It measures depth with fair accurately on coin size objects buried in the ground or you can duplicate this from air testing. However, If the coin is brushed up against the coil your readings are not as accurate.

(3) (Target size) Any target larger or even smaller than coin size will effect the depth meter, The detector with the analog meter is calibrated on coin size targets and with the stock 9.5" coil.

Lets get together next week, On vacation :)

Old Cal..summed it up quite well and your unit is working good I would think certain setups do affect depth readings but are usually within an inch in most cases when buried...and coins laying on top can be a challenge for any unit....
