Xchange2 Program

I have been having a hard time getting my Xchange2 program communicating with my new CTX3030. I called Minelab America last week and they gave me an email address which is specifically for this program, this was 8 days ago, no reply. Yesterday I again tried and finally got a tech down in Florida who told me that the program has a really hard time working with Windows 10. I then sent an email to Minelab in Australia explaining the problem and asking why, after Windows 10 being on the market for at least 3 years now, and numerous others having the same problem, that they haven't came up with a patch, fix, or workable CD so myself and others using Windows 10 can use the program, guess what, no answer.

I am wondering if they really give a damn? I have came to this conclusion. They are using the original CD knowing that most people don't use Windows 10, if they put a compatible 64 bit disc in with the detector then people not using Windows 10 would have problems. Why don't they include two CD's, one for previous versions of Windows and one for Windows 10 users? This is just a guess but it seems like a good fix because anything is better than nothing.

The tech that I talked to told me that 8 out of 10 people with Windows 10 have problems, that is not acceptable.

So what are you doing sitting around complaining for? Write the new software yourself since apparently you think it's so easy.

I use mine on Win 10. I did have an issue when the 3030 icon logo would not appear on the left hand column. Detector says connected but I could not communicate with it. Could not see the files on it and could not upload or download. Really strange since at the Sabich Bootcamp this past weekend he connected without a problem.

I then tried the usb ports on the other side of the computer and it connected, complete with the icon. So there must be issues with usb 3.0 vs 2.0. The usb ports that would not work are also powered ports.

If you are having connection issues try a different port.

Mine is less than a year old and all of a sudden it wouldn't connect, turned out to be a bad cable .
Got a new cable and it hooks right up.

there is something different to the CTX cable. IT looks like a generic USB, but once I couldn't find my Minelab one so I pulled the one off my printer (same design) but it wouldnt connect. I though something was wrong with the CTX until I finally found the original cord and everything worked fine.

Is your Win10 a clean install of the full version on your PC boot hard disk?
As soon as I chose to make the change to Win10 upgrade, from a perfectly good Win7 PC, I ran into all sorts of problems with some programs.

The upgrade option of the previous version of Win7 to Win10, had some inherent problems including one like yours of when trying to use Xchange2, it would not communicate with the CTX3030 to my PC.
The USB ports were no functioning correctly because of issues with driver updates.

I did uninstall Xchange2 , cleaned up the registry and found it worked again ,only for the problem to return shortly after.

So, I made a bootable usb drive to install a clean FULL version of Win10. I could have save a lot of the files on my boot HDD but chose to just keep it a clean full install.

It can be found and downloaded with instructions on how to, here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10

I installed it on to a cleaned up hard disk and installed relevant updates and have never had anymore issues with Xchange2 on Win10.

In my opinion, I don't really think it's an Xchange2 problem, with the need for any patch.

I think it's more a problem that seemed to mostly occur with a less than prefect Win10 setup.

You could always revert back to Win7 but would probably be better off to just do a clean full Win10 re install over your existing one, to replace it entirely if you've not already done this.
