Xchange 2 Question

Darrell

New member
I downloaded Doc's 2 settings from findmall. They are now on my detector, thanks to Gone Hunting's how to video. I wanted to take a look to see how Doc's programs were set up. They both show up under the CTX 3030 icon, but don't show up under all. From my limited knowledge, the only way that I can look at the settings is under the edit function of all. What am I missing?

I messed around with the CTX today using GH's Combined settings. After using the XS for 12 years I think I'll find the 50 tones more familiar. Since I don't like to dig much junk, I made the pitch on the "nickel " segment higher than the "aluminum" segment. I won't be digging aluminum on purpose. I actually dug my 1st nickel on purpose today. The last one was over 10 years ago with the Sovereign.

I'll try a local park in the morning. I want to check out a high trash area that I've hit several times lately with XS. I pulled a lot of silver out the area the 1st few times. The last time I only pulled 3 silvers. They were all found outside the area that I pounded.

In XChange2 you can view the items loaded on the CTX or view the items that are in Collections in the XChange2 app. By clicking the CTX icon you will be able to view the items loaded on the CTX, by clicking on ALL (under the CTX icon, not the ALL in the Filter box.) you will be able to view the items that are in COLLECTIONS in the XChange2 app.

If you highlight the CTX3030 icon and then click the + sign by Filters and then ALL (the All in the Filter box), the FP, WP, GH, Modes, and Universal settings that are loaded on the CTX will show up. You can't open a Mode and view it here however.

To open Modes and see how they are set up or editing, by using the XChange2 app, the Mode needs to be in a Collection in XChange2. You then click the EDIT function and the Mode will open up on the right side of the screen. You can make changes or not. If you don't make changes you can just close the window, if changes are made, of course you would SAVE.

I prefer to edit and view Modes in the XC2 app, but if they are loaded on the CTX, you can also edit them there. That is a matter of preference.........HH

I'm with you as far as looking at the settings in collections. My problem is how to move those 2 settings that are on my CTX, that are not in a collection, into a collection.

It appears that both of Doc's settings are on loaded on the CTX, but not in a collection in XChange 2. If I understand you correctly, I need to move these 2 settings to a collection.

I would have thought that when I downloaded the 2 programs from find mall, they would have gone into 2 collections. There's a distinct possibility that I did something wrong.

Darrell, They should be in a collection somewhere, but if not. Hook up the CTX and fire up the XChange2 app. When the CTX icon shows up, click on it. You can now click on the + sign in the Filter box, and can select ALL or whatever type of file you are looking for in the CTX. Then go down and as the curser passes over each file the box will be outlined in red. Click on one or more of the files that you want to copy to a collection. When you click to select the files, the box will "gray". You can move one or multiple files at once. Once you have the files selected, left click on one that is "grayed" and drag the file/files to a collection of your choice. Now you have the file/files in both the CTX and a Collection in XChange2. You can remove modes etc. from the CTX by selecting and then drag and drop into the recycle bin in XChange2. (I always double check to be sure that I have indeed placed the file into a Collection before removing from the CTX and dropping into the recycle bin.)........HH

PS......When adding or removing files from the CTX, properly disconnect the CTX from the PC and let the CTX go thru it's updating procedure before shutting the CTX down.

Thanks for all of your help. I'm not sure what a "collection" is used for? While I was messing with it, I deleted the contents of GH's Combined mode. So I watched his video again to set it up again. He put his files the sample file in order to set them up. I put Doc's settings in the sample file and I can know look at them.

I can see how to set up a "collection file(s), but why would anyone do that?

Thanks,
Darrell

I have a Collection just for "My Modes" that I use, another for Modes that I have acquired from someone else, or the Modes that were in the CTX from the factory. Other Collections are for specific locations that I hunt. I put Findpoints, Waypoints, and Geohunts for each specific site in the Collection for that site. I treat Collections like a file folder for my "files", they can be for Modes, locations, specific dates, or just whatever and however a person would like to keep their information stored. The picture is just to kind of show what some of my Collections are for. My "CROOKED RVR" Collection is selected, and some of the info saved in that Collection is shown.............HH
