Hi Fella`s,

Iam running my X-Terra 70 with the + (Target ID Stability) on for most of the time.

Do you guys do the same ?

I have been very pleasantly surprised with the performance of this detector and my ever faithful Explorer has had an enforced holiday for the last 3 months.

Thanks in advance for you advice.

Jerry.

Nice to hear you are enjoying your X-70. Although I have used (and appreciate) the TID Stability, I usually just hunt in all metal mode and listen for tone consistency. The TID numbers I posted in the early days of this forum are pretty accurate. But ground conditions, coil selection, target depth, angle the target is buried, adjacent targets and sweep speed all have an impact on how the TID identifies the target. TID Stabilization helps. But don't ignore those narrow target responses that produce a consistent audio tone, but won't give a steady TID. It just might be that $5 gold piece that has eluded so many of us! HH Randy

Jerry,

I do the same with mine & fine that I like it quite a bit. Because of the finer segments on the 70 I have found it to be a bit jumpier on the numbers than the 50 or 30. The + feature was a smart addition by Minelab.

I use the ID Stability mode when I'm in iron or trash like rusted tin cans. I read somewhere that using this mode turns on a few more filters, which cuts through the mineralization better. It also makes the numbers lock on better when you hit a good target among trash. Here in NH, we have some sites with iron pockets and when I see that #48, I will use the ID Stabilizer. If a #48 gives me a sharp pinpoint, I'll dig it..you never know. Ron
