X70 Straight Shaft???

Hi,

Does anyone know where one can purchase an after market straight shaft for the xterra series?

Please tell us all where?? Better yet a fibreglass or plastic upper shaft would be good too to keep as much metal as possible away from the coil. I bet a person could make one at home. Any plans for such from anyone??

I have a straight shaft on my X-70 and really like it. I got mine here.

Scroll down a little.

Thanks alot Crusty,

1) But why would a person buy a straight shaft for the X-Terra, now that I have looked into it, I cannot figure out why?? Is it much better than the stock upper shaft assembly in some way??

2) Is this total upper straight shaft assembly made of Fibreglass or Plastic?? (As this is the only reason I would see to buy one. To keep as much metal as possible away from the coil, especially for the round 10.5" DD's.)

3) If it is made of Aluminum, then I bet a person could make a Fibreglass or Plastic upper shaft assembly at home. Any plans for such from anyone??

(I have an aftermarket Fibreglass upper shaft for my GP 3000 for this purpose.)

I also read of hip-chest mounting an X-Terra (70) from Gerry's Detectors in Idaho is also an idea. I know it is very light weight BUT it is nice to keep the VDI and buttons still to look at while the shaft is moving.
