X70 setup question

Hello everybody, i'll be going to an old house this weekend to detect. I've been using my x-terra 70 for about a year now. Have not made any really good old coin finds. Can some of you more experienced users give me the run down on how to properly set up my detector. I usually go right by the book but i seem to be having trouble ground balancing. I mostly use pattern one and three tones. I almost always get alot of threshold blanking and i think i'm not balancing right. Any help would be great.

It sounds like you are working in the right direction. I use the auto mode to ground balance and the auto mode for noise cancellation, leave the x70 in the pattern 1 coin hunt mode and go for it. I have found this works very well for me. If this old home site has not been hunted, you well find coins. I use the 10.5" dd coil and have had great results, my son uses the standard 9" coil and also does very well. Good Luck!

I would check out the FAQFAQ at the top of the site if you have not yet.

I do a auto NC then a Auto GB. I run pattern 1 with 3 tones 99% of the time. The old coins will be there. Keep hunting and good luck to you, Beale.

well I do these steps and it works well for me
turn it on
put in all metal
noise cancel
find a target free piece of ground and ground balance

ready to go!

Thanks fellas, i'm gonna give it a try this weekend and see what i can come up with. The info i get from this forum has been very helpfull. There's a great bunch of guys and gals here that are always ready to help out a fellow detectorist. Thanks again.

MY THRESHHOLD WAS TO HIGH AND I SEEM TO BE GETTING MORE DEEPER SIGNALS BUT I THINK I AM ALSO DOING A BETTER JOB OF GB NOW AND SET MY GB AT SOWER SENSITIVITY LEVEL

THESE SEEMED TO HELP ME BUT I DON'T HAVE THAT MANY HOURS WITH NEW METHODOLOGY

GOOD LUCK

JEFF
