X70 pinpoint question

When I am pinpointing with my machine the display almost always shows a negative number. Then it hits on good signal again once I release pinpoint. Possibly gargage near something good? I'll take all opinions to try to help me understand what is going on here.

The X-Terra's are different from most makes/models that require you hold a toggle or button in a momentary-shift position. Press into Pinpoint and then release. Problem solved?!?

Does my unit show target ID during pinpoint, and can it change during pipoint as it does during a search mode? I have read the manual and it does not specify this....

while in the Pin Point mode...the visual numerical I.D. will still I.D. targets. Yes the numerical value can change if you place the coil over a different target than the one originally pin pointing for.

I would like to note that my X-Terra 30, unlike my X-Terra 70, will not continue to visual I.D. while in the Pin Point mode. Kelley (Texas) :)

Thank you all ...you are very helpful. I can't believe how different, both with a lot of positives, my Exp II and X-70 are.
