X70 beach settings

Firstly, let me thank all the people that have posted great information for users. I took my X70 to the beach for the first time yesterday (actually first time out with X70) and was wondering if the beach mode should really be used just in the wet sand. I'm hunting in an area with a lot of trash (bottle caps, ring pulls and the occasional soda can) and I notice that the ring pulls register between 14 & 16. After a while I started using the ID to determine whether or not I should dig the target (and save my back). I'm now thinking that in the dry sand I should just notch out pull tabs but I'm concerned about missing small gold jewelry. The other problem is target separation since there is so much trash. Since a small coil would be more effective can anybody give me some pointers on which one they think would be the most effective. Lots of questions I know, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have not taken the 70 to a salt beach. So I have yet to know what to tell you on that subject. But I have taken the 70 to one sand volleyball court. I hunted with the 70 as I do with my other machines. I set it to reject iron then scoop up everything else. Using a 1/2 inch mesh type scoop it only takes a couple of seconds to see what you have. I have a bad back also and if it's warm it loosens my back up some. I don't mess with the TID and use 2 tones. I try to get the tabs out because you never know what's under or besides them until they are gone. Good luck!
