X2 Pro and Nicads

Thought it would be a brilliant move to use single cellAA nicads (duracell) in the alkali holder. Seems to have changed the machine so that it's not stable in all metal, and the threshold blares and need to be set way lower. Any ideas on a fix or why this is happening? Different voltage?

The Sovereign needs 12 volts to work properly and the Nicad and the nickle hydride cells are only 1.2 volts each, so 8 of them in the alkaline pack is only 9.6 volts which is not enough to run the Sovereign or if it does not very long. The factory rechargeables pack have 10 cells in them is why they will work.
I have heard of a few that have got the higher Mha batteries and some will work for a few hours, but why take a chance on missing a deep target because there is not enough voltage for the Sovereign to work properly.

Appreciate your knowledge, Rick, I just know the Sov' finds good stuff! Seems to be still doing the same thing with the normal pack in, had gone back to normal for a while until I tried again (NIMH's) with a shorter charge. Maths never was my stong subject. Thanks again and good hunting.
