X-terra vs Explorer question.

Just curious as to those who have used both the xterra and II or SE - I know there is a ton more features on the II / SE but am curious as to comparison on depth is the II / SE much deeper than the xterra 50/70 ?

I have the 50 and just wondering if it was worth the extra money to upgrade to the II or SE?

thx

I used the X-Terra70 all summer in between Explorers and loved it. A must have is the round 10" DD 7.5 kHz coil. I field hunt and I've taken colonial coppers to 12-14 inches. When they are that deep you have to be alert as they are barely audible and with that machine I have noticed that they come in like a Wheat at 30 to 32 on the XT70.
Zincs 34-36 Dimes 38 Quarters and shalower coppers 42. 48 is Hot rocks.
Get the DD coil and have a ball unless your like me and have to try everything.

That 10" DD 7.5 kHz coil for the 70 will go very deep and runs stable here.
When the 70 is set-up right it doesn't take a back seat to much of anything in the depth department.
I can run mine very close to wide open in this heavy iron dirt and dig coin size non ferrous targets at 12" on a regular basis.
Of course I like to run in prospect mode set around 5 and dig everything that comes in ... it can be punishing at the wrong site but very rewarding in others :)

I have a 70 along with my Explorer II and love the simplicity of it. It allows you to move along faster while still beeping to let you know you passed over something. As far as depth, I never find anything as deep as some of the guys here. Probably because of the soil composition which is a dense clay for the most part. The few 1700 era coins I have found were within 6 inches.
I just recently found a Nortic "Ore" dated 1895 with the X terra at about 6-7 inches. It's a tiny coin smaller than a dime and was probably brough over from farmers who migrated to NJ from Norway or Sweden. I was moving along fairly quick and swinging the coil at about the speed you would swing a weedwacker. The 70 chirped to let me know something good might be down there. She was right!
