X-terra stand..

Remember the coil stand that came with the original Explorer XS...well if you can pick one up heres what you do. As the XS stand is wider you will have to cut of one side of the base slip the other alongside the X-terra coil nut tighten and your unit won't topple in a windstorm..Color is black and fits right in with color coil combo. Should be some laying around in closets as many did not use and used the sunray stand with built in 1/4 headphone jack..Certainly works well in lieu of other adaptions I have seen or read about and your original X-terra coil stand remains intact...

Good tips to those interested.

I just lay the X-Terra down on its right side when putting it down and theirs not any worry about a fall over. It annoyed me when I first got it, but when I started making all sorts of interesting finds, I forgot all about it.

I guess all of our X-Terra's fall over. I used to just lay it on it's side. My brother came up with a solution for me . He had a stand for a White's XLT on hand and it works perfect. Used existing holes and removed the factory stand. Also doesn't get in the way of my swing at all. Stand was $4.95 from White's.

Always said our fellow hobbyists were inventive...If you don't understand its basically an XLT armrest put on backwards. Always enjoyed planted hunts for this reason as the guys and gals had some neat ideas....

Sorry I should have mentioned that it is an armrest.

There were extensive posts about this earlier. I liked the rubber strip about 3" x 8"? idea attached on the stand. Also someone was selling a custom stand with a speaker plug-in on the rear.

Why not get some ABS or PVC or ABS-PVC crossover glue-cement(whatever type of plastic the stand is made of? and do not breath the glue fumes in, using it outside) and glue on winged extension(s) that make the stand wider, without make too much of a glue mess.

The tipping over issue also annoyed me alot. I wonder why they did not rectify this problem with the new models?

Donut ( a fellow MDer) fashioned a stand out of pvc and a headphone connector in the rear of the cuff for me and they work fine.
