X-Terra Purchase (Need Help)

Prospector

New member
I am thinking about buying an X-Terra. I know the 30, 50 and 70 offers additional features for each machine, but can anyone tell me how they compare in depth to each other. I have have heard that the X-Terra's all have about the same depth range. I am leaning to the X-30 and possibly adding the 6" concentric coil. I really don't need the prospecting mode that the X-70 has, and am okay with factory set ground balancing. Can anyone tell me how all three compare depth wise? Thanks!

Same coil in neutral ground, that is ground that would best match the pre-set GB of the X30, figure about a 1 to 1.5 inch advantage with the X70 in standard Coins & Treasure mode. If you are coin shooting in no more than moderate ground the X30 will do fine. The six inch will turn it into a good park/trash hunter.

If you are considering moving up to the X50, then you can gain the use of the 6 inch DD, and hunt in higher mineralization better. But for simple ease of use with a nice feature set the X30 is a nice unit.

however the 70 in prospect mode will go the deepest.
Cheers!

The X-Terra 30 is a great machine and very easy to use. Depending upon your soil conditions, a detector that has manual rather than fixed ground balance will usually get better depth in mid to high mineralization. The difference is usually an inch or so. As for versatility, you mihgt want to consider the X-Terra 50. It accepts all the X-Terra coils and has manual ground balance. The ground balance is very easy to set on the 50 and 70 and you never know what that extra 1 inch of depth might hold.

The 7.5 kHz will work with all three models of X-Terras. The 18.75 kHz will work on both the X-50 and X-70. The 3 kHz coil will only work with the X-70. HH Randy

thank you BB and JW for bringing the error of my previous post to my attention. :punch:

If the 50 is in your budget I would buy it. You have a lot more options with it. I had a 30 and now a 50. The 30 was a real good detector. I'm told the factory GB on the 30 is about #6 GB setting on the 50. I have to tell you that my soil GB's at #9 to #10. So even though the 30 worked good the 50 works great!
