X-Terra 705 Prospecting Coils

Well, last 2 times out to the desert with my X-Terra 705 Prospecting, I have been skunked with out coming home with gold, but, had a great time, got real upfront and friendly with a rattlesnake, I suggest the snakegruards, I was using the Elliptical 5" x 11" coil, found lots of metal junk targets, some of the smallest stuff yet, this detector is so sensitive, I was told to find the smaller gold at a deeper depth to use the 6" DD coil. Anybody use this coil for prospecting and or coinshooting, I would like to hear your experiences. Thanks Rick

I prefer the 6-inch DD for coinhunting. I use concentrics for my general detecting, as my soil mineralization doesn't require the use of the DD coils. Frankly, I get more depth and better TID with the concentrics. However, when I get to a site that is congested with adjacent targets, I chose the 6-inch for it's superior separation characteristics. Simply stated, a smaller coil will separate targets better than a larger coil.
