X-Terra 705 Classes in California/Oregon/Nevada

Does anyone in California, Nevada or Oregon put on training seminars for the X-Terra 705 or know someone that does?? I am thinking I may have to learn hands on instead of book work. I am in Northern California and can make the drive to get some hands on training if anyone puts on classes. Specifically interested in learning the prospecting side of the detector as I seem to be doing ok with the coin shooting features. Having twice tried to prospect with the machine in claims that seem to have an over abundance of trash I can get it dialed in. I know there is gold where I am looking because when I go old school pick, shovel and sluice in the area I am detecting I am finding gold. I change all the settings as described in the MLOTV.com training videos put on by Kevin Hoagland and still can't seem to get any results or I am misinterpreting the results.

Also in the FAQ section of this forum there are some audio files that helped a lot with learning to search by ear and greatly reduced the amount of trash is was digging. Does anyone have an audio clip they can post or link me to that would allow me to hear the tone change when hitting a gold target. The videos I have watched all have music covering the tone sound or some other interference with the part of the video I need to hear.
Thanks in advance.

There should be some detecting clubs that you could join. That would be the best way to go. The forum really does make learning the X-Terra a lot easier though, but not the same as hands on. you will find folk in a club that would be happy to go out and hunt with you, or go on a club hunt.
failing that; something that helps to hear the differences in targets, is to collect some common junk that you find on a hunt and place it on ground free of other metal and go over it, plus put down some good targets and listen to them as well. play around with how you go over them (multiple passes). You will be able to tell some targets apart, but not others. Often, the differences a subtle and you won't hear any differences at first, but as you build up the hours of experience, you will start too. If you have had musical experience, the ear training from music will certainly make hearing the differences a lot easier.
You will pick up on other cues as well. ie. Listen to how various targets sound when in pinpoint. this is most helpful on targets that are only 2 to 4 inches deep. Watching how the numbers on the display behave can also tip you off to certain targets. While coins often lock onto a single number, that is not always the case.
There are lots of little things that you will discover, that will help you to ID targets. Being curious, willing to experiment and generally, just play around with how you go over targets, will be both fun and rewarding.
Good luck.
Mick Evans.
