want to get a 70 but what is it like???????

They are sweet. Read the faq faq post at top the page , lots of information there. The 70's go pretty deep i think, they have auto or manual groun balance and ground tracking . Also 1,2,3,4, or 99 tones 99 is really only 28 tones. You can also pick the tones in all metal. I really like mine and have made some really good finds with it. To be honest I had a 50 first and hated it for about a week it was so sensitive compared to the bounty hunters I had used in the past. I then came to like the 50 so much I wanted the 70. The 50 and 70 find coins in so called hunted out spots all the time for me. Oh and welcome to the forum .

What is it like? Well, I'm not bashing anyone else's brand of detectors, don't get me wrong. Alot of anyone's opinion depends on their experience with some of the other brands. I have used the ACE 250 and the White's MXT. But the X70 is very quiet, lightweight, and releatively easy to use once you understand the settings you need to use and which combination of numbers and sounds to look for. Other machines can make you jaded toward their fancy displays, triggers for pinpoint, and simplicity of set up etc. (i.e. turn on and go) but as many have previously posted, the X70 does its job well and for alot less money than you could spend on other machines. But the X70 may cost you more than you want to spend for a machine that may find the same thing. One might say the X70 is an "experience" of it's own? Each detector has preferred qualities of it's own, and distinguishing and reliable characteristics of it's own. But to repeat what I have already said, it is lightweight, easy to use, and very quiet compared to other machines and has been equally, if not more reliable, than other machines. Let your experience be the judge. Yes, indeed, read the FAQ's, you can practically learn the X70 by reading the posts before you even own one. If all else fails, look at the finds posted on the forum compared to the other forums for other machines. I think I see a lot more posts with pictures attached, where people have found quality items with the X70 than you see on other posts with a comparable detector. If I ever have to replace another detector, it will be the Xterra 705 for my X70, because the 705 has a backlit display. Hopefully, the X705 will be as good to me as my X70 has been. Good luck and happy hunting!

This is what I found using a ace 250. Last year time. I really cant wait to ge the x-terra 70.

The 70 or the 705 are very formidable detectors. With the 10.5DD coil it is a depth monster, with the 6"DD coil it is like hunting with a laser in trashy spots. Minelabs noise cancel is the best on working in tough EMI situations also. :minelab:

Ive seen a x70 at a tecting shop I use for
