X-terra 70 vs Golden mask 3 depth test

Hello there, i made two videos about the detection depth of two machines i use, these items have been buried in the soil about half a year.

the first target is:
18 mm diameter brass button, buried at the depth of 16,5cm= 6.6 inch.

Second target is:
Finnish copper 5 penni

nice video's
I would stick with you Golden mask3, I have never used a minelab xt series so it shed some light.

Well my Golden mask 3 is a fine pasture/plowed field detector, it got some serious detecting depth and it has very fast recovery speed. X-terra 70 is my primary beach/trashy place detector, so both detectors have it uses.:detecting:

Because the targets are buried half a year ago, i think there are more like something similar to a plowed field.

Plowed or not, but still these videos show that the Golden mask 3 would get the goodies.:clapping:

Well, I don't think that is a "Fair" test. First off the Xterra with the stock coil compared with the 10.5DD on the GM? Put the 10.5 DD on the Xterra and see what happens!!
Also, you are using 99 tone on the Xterra, I NEVER could use that as I don't think the Tone ID is as good as in all metal 2 tone mode. Were you in a pattern mode or all metal mode on the Xterra? I get far better results in all metal, 2 tone mode. I relic hunt with the Xterra with the 10.5DD coils and I know that that "Dog Will Hunt" This pic shows a .69 cal bullet that I found that a Tejon & MXT with a 10"DD coil would not pick up on. I found 4 of these within 10 feet of each other at the same depth, in a plowed field!!!

All right, maybe it not that fair and also i dont have the 10.5 dd coil for the X-terra to test, because i dont think i need one.

The testing soil is mild, so the concentric coil should be performing better than DD coil as far depth is concerned.

I used 99 tones, noise cancel, all metal mode, track and sensitivity was 25 in the test video. I did try the 2 tone mode and all metal, but it didnt make much different in the test results.

In the test the Golden mask 3 has been set to ignore small and medium iron pieces, auto ground balance and normal sensitivity setting that i use when i am detecting in the fields.

The X-terra tones where a little better in 2 tone mode, but overall the golden mask 3 signal strength was far greater.

This is just a test for both detectors stock coils, nothing more nothing less.

I can make a new X-terra video about the 2 tones in the same test bed, if it makes you feel any better, ok.

Ok, at least run the sens up to 28-30 and see what it does. I can run my X70 at 30 with the big coil with no problems. And no the concentric does not get the depth of the DD coils, I have my stock coil hanging on the wall, never use it. Also remember that you will get alot more info with the multi tones and number ID's than you will with a single tone beep & dig machine. Sorry for being so defensive on this but I have used just about all of the high end machines out there and have found the Xterra 70/705 to be the best for my hunting style. I would love to try a GM 3, but it is a little expensive with the exchange rate now.............MO

Run two tone all metal with the sens. Jacked to 30 and BAM! You will see what we are talking about! Morelic has tested almost every top brand, they do not compare in depth to the Xterra. Get that DD on and give it a try. We know what it does and have the relics to prove it.

Yesterday i did a test with my X-terra 70 with a sensitivity setting of 28 and it did in fact run nice and smoothly, but i will make a test video about it.

X-terra 70 is far better in modern trashy places than Golden mask 3 is, because it is designed to find deep small or big non ferrous items in heavy iron places and there it is great.

The discrimination of the Golden mask 3 could knock out small/medium pieces of aluminium foil at best, but because in my fields there are more iron than any modern trash, that is more than enough.

My deepest confirmed relic with the Golden mask 3 was around 2"x2" piece of a bell made of tin bronze, buried in a depth of 14", i was using headphones and confirmed the depth with the Garrett pro pointer.

I imported my Gm3 directly from Bulgaria, where it is made and the detector alone cost me 358.40 Euros = around 475 U.S. dollars, not including the 30 euros shipping damage insure.

Shipping to America could cost a quite a pretty penny, but i also would like see that someone would try these detectors in American soil.:smoke:

Here you go a new X-terra 70 testing video with all metal mode, 2 tones and sensitivity 28:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IG563qPGVY

It was dark and cold, when i made the video, but as you can see, the different settings made all the targets come to live once again.:)
