X Terra 70 gold

Well done BT,

Being in Oz to I,m interested in the 70 for picking up the stuff My SD2100 can,t see.

Can you give me some rough depth figures on those bits you found & how hot the ground was ?

Regards Bob.

I imagine a fair amount of boot tacks and slugs were dug to find those. In the States it's the .22cal slugs & carts that drive some of us mad, but I think I re-call that in Oz land they use a high velocity .17cal to hunt Roo's. Those slugs must be a major pain when gold hunting.

By the way read that the drought is causing a major snake problem, and lot's of people are getting hit by Brown's over there and killed. We just got a foot of snow, I'm thinkin', I like snow, I'll take it over the Brown's.

I sure like those yellow rocks.Did you get that nice gold from a hard rock dump? We got about 30 oz from an old hard rock dump a few years ago. It had nice crystalline chunks that when cleaned it in acid, it came out with the quartz white and the gold bright yellow.

Main mode used was? All Metal (Prospecting) or Discrimination (Patterns).

Did you use a set GB or Autotracking?

Good luck of future journeys afield!

Monte

G'day Bill.
I haven't heard of abnormally high numbers of people getting bitten by Brown snakes. They do occur. The brown snake is the second most deadly snake in the world, but if you treat somebody that has been bitten properly, then they usually live. Actually, in the gold fields near where I live (Hill End area), it's the Tiger snake that you really have to watch out for. Not only are they quite venomous, they are also, very aggressive. The good news is that they have smallish fangs, so it pays to wear thicker protective leg and foot wear.
The other good news, is that after 6 years, the rains are just starting to arrive, and it is expected to end the drought over the next month or so. This drought has been the worst one in our history, and there have been a number of towns that have run out of water. They had to truck it in.

Thanks for the post and awesome finds! Some of those nuggets look tiny which gives me even more confidence in the XT70. I sometimes can not believe the great signals I get from small/tiny targets using the 7.5kHz DD. HH, Mike

BT nice finds I think by the look of the gold and species they came from the Castlemaine area lol, when working a rubishey area what discriminate settings do you recomend ie.do you just use iron mask or do you switch to a coin/relic setting to check the target out?

regards
kris
