what is your idea of this one..
I want to be able to do all terrain and some shallow water...

I'm new but I don't want to be disappointed in one that would not suprise me.. I want to make the right choice for the first one.. till I can save up for a better one..

I have a 50 and I hated it for the first couple of weeks, but 6 months into it, I love it. (slow learner)
I have a 5" DD coil but normally use the 9" 7.5 kHz coil.
I haven't used it in water, but have read posts of people who do.
I think the coil is supposed to be waterproof to about 3 feet.

The 505 has more bells and whistles than the 50.
I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Yes, its good, very good. The added features on the 505 make it a very useful machine. You may want to invest in a 6" DD high freq coil in the future, but for now you can get right to work (fun work that is!)

I would use the stock coil for a good 3 months or more and after that you well have a good idea as too what type of MD'ing you would like to do and what type of soil you have in your area. You need to figure those things out first to help you in making a good decision as too witch coil would be best for you to buy.

Sweet... I'm sold....

a quick question....

I'm in the Chicago land area..... and do sometimes go to MI to a lake area where a friend has a cabin.. there is a area that you drive your boat to.. that people swim.. I know because I have swimmed there... and I always thought that there must be alot of stuff in the sand that people have lost.. within the shallow water...
how deep of water can I search in with the coil?
