X -Terra 50

I have been waiting for the right time to buy a Terra 50 and have now done so it will complement my faithful Explorer MKII.

Question. With your weeks of hands on experience do I really need the 18kHz coil.?

Thanks in advance,Jerry.

Hi Jerry,

I do not think anyone needs the 18.75 kHz coil unless they are a gold nut looking for that extra edge on tiny gold items. The 7.5 kHz coil will probably do better for most general uses and is still remarkably sensitive to small items.

It would be a great addition for swimming holes, beach hunting etc. if you frequent those type of spots.
Hopefully, when warmer weather permits, it along with others should become available from Minelab. Right now I'd love to see a small shooter style coil more than anything else.

Jerry,

It really depends on your hunting. I have used both coils and prefer the stock coil for the hunting that I do. The 18.75 would be ideal if you are mainly interested in gold and not much else. It is extremely sensitive. For general hunting the 7.5 works great and it is pretty sensitive to small items.

Good luck with your X-Terra. I really like the machines.
