What causes the LCD screen on an XT-50 to not fully show the numbers ie:#8 looks like a #9. Does the screen need replacing? I don't know if the Warranty is valid for a third owner? Seems strange such a new version would have this problem. Unless droped or something. Sent a FAX. to Minelab regarding the cost of replacing the screen. However they would not commit to an approx. cost. THANKS in advance for your input.

Minelab offers a 2-year warranty to the original purchaser. It is not transferrable.
From your description, I wouldn't know if the screen needs replacing or if the software is just glitched up. That is probably why Minelab couldn't commit to a repair cost. They can't tell either, without looking at it. If it were mine, while it is running, I'd pull out the batteries. Let it set for a minute and reinstall them. If the problem don't go away, I would send it in for repair. HH Randy

Then go back and set your machine back like you had it and see if it is still doing the same thing. If so send it to M/L. sometimes they will fix it free even if it is a used one. Talk to Dick Shultz and tell him what is going on. Real nice guy. Jerry aka Tinfoil.

Heat build-up can cause LCD's to do that, usually due to a lengthy exposure to direct sunlight. Is this a problem when first powering up or after detecting in the hot sun for awhile? Also, keeping or storing a detector or other electronic device in a vehicle during the heat of Summer can cause damage.
