Hi Rick and really a pleasure to meet you. Yes the X50 has 4 tones in the AM mode. I scanned an old six shooter which consists of the cylinder and barrel only and it read -6. The X50 is a sharp lightweight treasure huntin dude. GB is easy. Ok I hope this helps ya. Coil to the Soil! God Bless Rick.

As Wirechief indicated, the 4 tones will be "available" in the all-metal mode of the X-50. In addition, the LCD will indicate the numeric value assigned to the conductivity value and ferrous content of the target you are passing the coil over. With the X-50, there are 18 "notch segments", representing target ID numbers from -9 to +45, (in increments of 3). Negative numbers represent ferrous targets and positive numbers represent non-ferrous targets. HH Randy

The X-Terra 50 goes from -9 to +45.
