X-Terra 50 for Beach Hunting

Bernie

New member
On advice of folks at Kellco, I recently purchased an Xterra 50 for my wife for beach hunting. She likes to get down in the wet sand to hunt, and her ACE 150 just doesn't cut it there. After reading the review posted in the Xterra section, I am wondering if that was not a wise decision. Anybody out there using a 50 on the beach and any advice? Thanks.

I have yet to get to any salt beaches with my XT70. With my limited experience with using other VLF machines on the salt beachs here is my take. Since you don't have auto track and beach mode on the 50 you'll have to use old school methods. GB you detector in the dry and then hunt the dry. Once you get into the wet then" try" to GB the unit. Then keep increasing the disc and reducing the sens until it runs pretty smooth. Slower sweeps and a DD coil should help. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I would have gone up to the 70 but was told by Kellyco that the 50 would work OK. I will give it a try.
