X-Terra 30 - exchangable coils, gold, sand help?

Welsh Neil

New member
Hello all

I was under the impression that the X-Terra 30 was going to have exchangable coils made available for it. Can anyone confirm if this is going to happen or not?

Also I am struggling to find an all weather cover to fit the X30 in the UK - any suggested suppliers?

And another thing I sometimes have trouble pinpointing in water logged sand, but in damp sand it works a treat. Any ideas for the water logged as I live on the 2nd widdest tidal range in the World, so the sand doesn't get long to dry out.

Finally check out the gold and emerald ring I found using the the X30 in about 8inches or so of sand. Its going to the finds office soon to see if its treasure trove or not!

The X-30 was designed to use only the 7.5KHz coil, called here the MF(Medium Frequency) coil. So it will not work with the 3KHz(LF) & 18KHz(HF) coils. It MAY work with the mythical 6 inch 7.5KHz coil that is yet to be released.

I use the clear plastic shower caps I lift from hotels when I travel on business. I understand some others use clear plastic pie tin covers that have an elastic ring, in the States I think they are sold under the "Glad" brand name.

If this is wet salty sand you are going to have trouble, the more saline the worse it will be. The autotune(all metal) pinpoint sees the wet salt as a sheet of metal. Only thing to do is not use PP and X(crisscross) the target in Disc mode.

Very nice ring you have there congrats!

Cheers for the comments. Interesting on the wet salty sand - you came up with the same conclusion as myself. I shall let you know how I get on, as I am planning a foray tonight.

All the best
