x-70 v Eureka Gold

The Eureka is specificly made for prospecting Kris and Im sure you know the X-Terra is an all round detector.....however if you read some posts on this forum about the X-Terra 70 Im sure you will find more then enough info on your question. My best advice to you if you can is to test run both for yourself, action always speaks louder then words.
Cheers!

G,day Kris.
I saw this post yesterday but though that I would have a think about replying.
I have used the Eureka for an extended period and in that time had great praise for its ability.
Back a couple of years ago it would have comfortably sat with the best at the top of the heap of VLF gold detectors.
Now though it all has changed.
The X Terra 70 has raised the bar to a new level as far as I am concerned here in OZ.
It is lighter, more maneuverable(hope I spelt that right) more versatile and considering its price and what it can do is a hard machine to go past.
Two years ago I would have laughed at the idea of using a VLF detector to hunt primarily for gold and yet here I am doing just that here in OZ.
Its prospecting mode rocks and is not just a weak attempt at giving you that option along with its discrimination, it really rocks.
Reading the many posts you will see on this site you will see just how good its disc and prospecting abilities are. The guys here, all of them, are a treasure trove of great info as well as being great people and will do all they can to see you right.
If the Eureka and the X Terra 70 were horses I would put every cent I had on the 70 here in OZ.
If you can, do what Nugget said and try it out for yourself, you should be pleasantly surprised.

BT I can see what your saying but I don`t need a coin/relic machine as i`m quite happy with my Tesoro, I have the chance of getting a second hand cheap eureka so what I realy want to know is in prospecting mode are they about the same or does one have the edge how about the 60 kHz on the Eureka just want a prospecting VLF to go after what I miss with the SD.
regards
kris

Fris,

B.T. is not talking about discrimination in the coin mode. He is talking about Metal Mask or iron discrimination in the prospecting mode that allows you to find tiny pieces of gold and not have to dig all the tiny iron junk. The prospecting mode on the X-Terra 70 is a full blown prospecting mode and if B.T. and others are now using it as their primary nugget hunter over the Eureka Gold machine In the Australian gold fields that should say a lot for the machine.

Here is a picture of a little nugget that I found with my X-Terra 70 in AZ while my Gold Bug II sat in the car.

God Bless,

G,day Kris. If you could get the Eureka super cheap then its your call sort of that wise. But my choice is the 70. I know that its highest frq is 18.75khz and the Eureka runs on 60 but sometimes its not as cut and dry as one running higher so its more sensitive if you know what I mean. Personally I would back the 70 and even though you might not think you will need its other options I bet you would soon really apreciate having them. Which is flat out no bull better? Mate I would like to be able to say but I have not run them head to head to be able to say. I still thogu would back the 70.
