X-70 to E-Trac to X-705

This spring I decided to sell my X-70 which did very well by me to buy an E-Trac. The E-Trac found me some nice silver coins but as a whole it just didn't suite my style and locations of detecting. Not wanting to own 3 detectors, I have a water machine also, I sold the E-Trac and bought the X-705. This detector just seems to suite me and I like everything about it. The way I look at it is the X-705 may not be the best machine out there at any one specific point, but it does everything really well and better than most. For this reason I believe it is the best all around detector available....period. Add to that that it is not a difficult machine to understand the interface makes it a huge winner. The X-705 is a perfect example of how to make a top notch detector that does all kinds of detecting very well, and you don't need two university degrees to operate.

I have chosen this to be my weapon of choice for the same reasons. Most of all recommendations support your thread concerning the 705.

Dave, I have the X 70, and feel about it the way you feel about the X 705. I'll be interested to hear how you think the 705 compares to the 70 when you have been using it for a while. At this stage I have no thoughts of upgrading to the 705 because I feel really comfortable with the X 70 and I think it's still doing its job very well. Sapper

Congrats on the 705! If I was buying new today that would be my choice also. I really like my 70 and all I can do with it, Beale.

Although the Etrac is an excellent detector, as you said, there is something about the X-Terra's versatility that keeps many of us swinging it. Welcome back to X-Terraville and best of luck in your hunts. HH Randy

Well I went out today for 2 hours with the 702 (first time since my return to Terraville) and all I can say is it was like when you've been away from home for a long time, finally you get home and settle down into your easy chair with everything you need for the evening within arms length and life just feels so........familiar. Not a better feeling anywhere.
Except for the added features to the 705 it felt much the same as the X-70 when I had it. The only real difference I noticed was the high tones while in 4 tones. Compared to the X-70 the 705's high tone sounded more horse......almost like when a singer tries to hit that high note but the voice cracks oh so slightly. The X-70's high tone is smoother. Now this may just be a slight variation from one machine to another....I just don't know.

So today in two hours I managed to dig 4 silver coins, a 1917, 1957, 1959, and a 1962. Also got 3 wheat cents, 1910, 1916, and a 1945. And two twelve sided nickels along with a bunch of clad.
It just felt so comfortable........and right. I don't believe I will stray again anytime soon.
