X-70 Sniff Old Token In Hard Hit Camp_ Tips Etc.

Folks. Here's real neat Canadian token I found this past Sat. In hard hit plowed Field. It Dated 1836 With " Bank Token" "One Penny" back it cleaned up real nice due nice sandy soil. Boy she was super deep!! 15 inches I measured the hole after I pulled Token out. On that note I was using my trusty 10.5DD 7.5 Coil , hunting in All Metal with sen. set At #28 , Auto Track on . uses only 2 tones only. The first signal was real soft Hight tones, but number where little jumpy from 23, 36, 40 . I check in pattern 1 mode and no signal , just low +13 signal. I then took about 2 inches topsoil off, And signal was blowing my ear off with lock on 46. I switched back pattern 1 seeing and did get high tone tone, but number where still jumping although higher 36, 40, 42 etc. After digging down over 12 inch's I pulled this very large token out of hole, it measure 15 inch's deep. As in many posted and my own Fields Finds it proves that hunting In All-Metal with bigger 10.5Dd coil will go deep. But the patterns mode must be use very carefully, You can loss depth, it may not be much , but In Relic Hunting, and hard hits site I hunt, 2 inches of depth is big difference from finding relics or going home empty handed!!!

15" is pretty impressive. I rarely use Patterns just because of the reason you described. In fields, you don't need it and I'll dig anything over in the + range, even if it bounces into the negtive numbers. Nice job on that one. Ron

That was a good and descriptive post. It had pictures and was informative. What I liked was the fact that you told us which coil you used, what numbers you were getting and how deep it was.

To tell you the truth, I almost felt like I was there. Thanks.

And very impressive depth. Glad to see that the 10.5 DD coil is working so well for your area. I'm not sure why the TID numbers were bouncing as you indicated. Or why your display would once again show the TID in an odd number, since the X-70 only registers a TID in even numbers. But regardless, nice recovery! Thanks for sharing it with us. HH Randy
