X-70 question

Finally got my new X-70. Went out with it yesterday about 30 minutes, (I have a doozy of a head cold) so I have spent some good time reading the manual. Hit a spot that I had previously hit hard with my MXT and found 3 quarters and 9 pennies, (coincidence?). I used multiple tones. I used to have an Explorer so I was pretty comfortable right away with the tones. Anyway, I have a question. If I'm reading the manual correctly, I should be able to do the following. I should be able to scan a pull tab and then reject it out?? If this is possible what other if any good targets would this action reject? Since i'm primarily a coin shooter would the 3KHz coil be a good coil? Thanks

1. Wave coil over object you wish to reject.
2. While the ID is still displayed, hit Accept/Reject button.
3. The notch display along the lower part of the screen will now show a black bar for that notched out segment.

Rejecting tabs can also reject some gold items.

On the 3KHz coil for coin shooting. Some like it and claim to hear audio differences better. I use it primarily in picnic table areas with lots of small surface foil. For me it prevents the small foil from masking the coins underneath. Now I'm probably in a minority in that respect, but it just shows that having many tools available, allows the X-Terra users to employ combinations to best suite their situations, and of course experiment. i.e The 6 inch HF DD was primarily developed as a prospecting coil, but it was soon found out by the coin shooters to be like using a laser beam in trashy areas.

The MXT is a very good machine with many positive features as an all rounder. But for the purpose of coin shooting, the X70 will leave it for dead.

What about gold coins?

That very much depends on WHAT gold coins. Look at Digger's chart towards the bottom, in that case no. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?55,493598,493651#msg-493651

But there's no guarantee that a smaller/thinner gold coin, i.e. ancient gold coin isn't going to end up with an ID in the Tab area. It depends where you are hunting and what the expected gold coins are to be found in that area. However, and this is a big HOWEVER, people find things in areas where they SHOULDN'T be! That's part of the fun and excitement of this hobby that makes the heart race a little faster on the next beep. Some little kid get's into grandpa's high value coin collection and takes them out into the back yard to play before being discovered. Next thing you know a gold Stater ends up in a backyard in Cleveland, it has no business being there, but there it sits!:hot:

hi frank barnett here i dont think you should reject pull tabs. pull tabs will read 10 to 22 if you reject them you could miss a lot of good things. you should dig all solid targets even if you think you know what they are. when you find a gold band or a white gold ring you will know what i mean. frank.
