X-70 on the way, always used a mxt ,what to expect?

I used an MXT for quite a few years. And, it is a good detector. But some of the things I like better on the X-70 are: programmable audio tones, notch discrimination, AutoGB with manual over-ride, Prospecting mode with Iron Mask discrimination, HUGE characters on the display, Noise Cancel channels, Programmable Pattern modes, weight, balance and having flexible frequencies. Oh, and I am able to sweep the X-70 a bit faster than the MXT. I'm sure there are others. But those are some that quickly come to mind. JMHO HH Randy

I've been away from metal detecting for 20 years or more and have decided I want back in now that I live in Colorado. Since last summer I and one of my sons have been kinda fooling around with the idea of prospecting. Mostly panning and just recently using a sluice box. But, after shoveling for a few days into that sluice, I sort of thing I may like the metal detecting side of this hobby more .

Over the last month, I have narrowed down my perspective detectors to either the MXT or the X-70. Since most of my previous experience with metal detecting has been finding coins and jewelry, I wanted to have that option open to me as well as there are great numbers of ghost towns around these parts, and I'm sure I will enjoy searching out some of them. After much consideration and finding as much as I can to compare these 2 detectors, I and my son have agreed that the X-70 should be the best for a dual purpose detector.

So, one is on the way and we are getting 3 different coils with it. The package came with the standard 7.5 khz and the 10x5 DD 18.75 khz. We also ordered a 9" 3khz coil for looking deeper for stashes, silver and copper. All of my other detectors were purchased at local neighborhood store in Orlando, 20 some years ago. So, I called them (KellyCo) and placed my order with a nice salesman (Raul) and they threw in a bunch of extra stuff, including an Automax Precision V4 Pinpointer for free.

This should be fun.
