X-70 Nabs rare trade token today!

Lisa and I managed to get a quick hunt in for a little over an hour on an old house that we found last weekend. The place just screams turn of the century but not a coin signal to be found anywhere other than a 1988 nickel and a zinker. The ground was pretty rough with gravel and clay after 2". Feeling discouraged, we figured some lucky detectorist must have hit the site long ago as there were no signs of recent digs.

On the way back to the truck, I got a quarter tone that sounded pretty rough but locked in at 44. I knew as soon as it popped out, I had a trade token. Seeing Cedar City Utah it got my hands shaking a bit. That is completely on the South end of the state and almost a five hour drive from where I live.

I called a Friend on the way home and found out that this token is listed as extremely rare in the Utah Token Book by Campbell. I am completely thrilled with this one!!!

Thanks for lookin'

Very neat find!

Very nice recovery Mike. What coil were you using and what depth recovered? Thanks TomB

I say it everytime a token is found...I still get more enjoyment out of finding a token than a coin. WTG.

Thanks for the comment!

I was using the 6" 18.75 Khz.HF DD. I had dialed the sens. down to 24 figuring that coins wouldn't get too deep with the gravel/clay layer. This token was down only 3".
I use a modified patten accepting all targets from -2 through +46 and hunt in four tones.
