For the average coin and relic hunter like me. Get yourself into all metal or pattern 1 with just -8 knocked out and crank that sen. up to just under where she wants to talk to you. Now with a proper GB your ready to enjoy a stress free day of this great sport/hobby.
When it comes to gold hunting there are several guys that have great info for all to learn from. But there is also the not so technical side of the forum. I guess I am in that group. We read the posts and learn from most of them but want to Keep It Simple.
I got in trouble trying to say something that didn't come out right a week ago. What I'm posting now is not a slam at anyone or anything. Its a side of this hobby that enjoys the relaxation, the hunt, the retrieval and the enjoyment of sharing what we found. We like to experiment and tweak our machines but a pouch full of wheats, Injuns, a strange whats it. A toy car or even a nice looking bell is what makes a complete day. Oh Ya, and that nice Seated Half Dime that just topped off the weekend.
Happy Hunting to everyone.

I agree Bob. Im a grass roots type who simply loves the hunt. I hope I dont come over as a "know it all" cos Im not by a long shot. I know what you mean.
A good day to me is a little .2 g bit of gold and an old coin. All else is a bonus.
Whats a wheat? An Injun is that a Indian head cent?
Hey, I put my foot in it so often that before I try new shoes on my feet I see if they first will fit in my mouth!
The day we stop learning from each other is the day we die.
And those who dont listen are probably just deaf anyway.
Cheers Bob.

Amen to keep learning and passing on the knowledge! God Bless all on the forum.:nerd::shrug::help:

Hi BT.,
I never done any gold hunting and find the posts by you and others very interesting. I also find it educational as to how you guys get so much from the X70 in prospect mode.
I am a coin shooter so to speak but not in the sense that I hunt schools and parks for clad and rings. Again, location dictates what you can hunt and you take it from there.
I have an opportunity to hunt old coins and relic of our ancestors and enjoy doing so very much. Wheats are copper pennies from 1909-1958. After that they were primarily made of zinc. Indian heads and Flying Eagle cents also fall in there.
Earlier coins like the one posted here are what I hunt for. And as you with the small Gold, It warms the Cackles of my Heart to unearth one like this. There are interesting factors that play into this type of hunting also.
Thanx for reading
Bob
