THIS WAS POSTED ON THE EXPLORER FOURM AND WANTED A FEW DIFFERENT VIEWS......... <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
HERE IT IS...............
I'm now armed with my new Explorer XS, Sunray x-1 probe, new gator digger, and a brand new minelab carrybag. I'm broke of course...but I have everything I need
now if only the 6" of snow we have would go away I could actually try this stuff out!!
On a sidenote...anything I need to know about using the X-1 probe!? Is it as simple as hitting the switch and sticking the probe in the hole? wow that sounds bad!!
Anyhow, I noticed when messing around with it in the house, it picks up signals from the sides of the probe as well...any way to narrow down where in the hole the target is?? Thanks!

Find the probe is very broad, not as pinpointy as I would like. I have to chase targets around in the hole, or in the dirt I dug which takes a little while to find it. Wish to probe itself had a capability to reduce the sensitivity. It has around a 2" range of detection all around. Guess it will take some getting used to.

in pinpoint mode chasing a few targets or you literally have not used the probe at all. It's a piece of cake and works the same way as a coil in trash... raise it a little to narrow the field.

I think your right though. It takes a little practice, a little finess. But you have to admit, it has a pretty broad reach. But I WILL get used to it. Thanks.

but being broad makes it easy. It only takes a sec. to find the signal, than once you do draw the probe back an inch and you should have the exact spot. Now what does make it more difficult is if you are running the detector very hot and the ground is very wet. (That's likley more for low sounding targets)
