x-1 falsing

does anyone experience falsing on the x-1 probe from the wire moving when in use. i have to turn the sense below 14 to get it to stop. if i shake the wire and hold probe still it does it real bad.

Not really, sounds like yours may have a short or something.. Only time I get falsing is when the sens is set high.. I do get a signal off the cable though if I dont keep it out of the way

I did notice that when I use a wet paper towel to clean the cable going to the control box that I do get "falsing". Other than that it seems to work. Almost sounds like an open or poor ground wire.

I had that happen exactly as you describe, it I touched the coil wire near the probe or even touched the probe box it would false, and I think it was moisture in the box, it did it for a week or so after I detected on the beach, then I removed the 4 screws holding the cover and there is nothing but quality workmanship in there, so it wasn't a bad solder or corrosion. I did as someone suggest, lower my Gain setting from 10 to 8 and now everything is fine, I can hunt again all the way up to 32 Sens in Manual and no falsing at all. So, either it was moisture that dried out eventually or combination of that and Gain being too high. Whatever, it now works great and like I said the workmanship in the box itself looks very firm and well done. Don in South Jersey

I had problems with my switch that caused falsing. I opened the box, drilled a very very small hole in the switch box and squirted in some contact cleaner, no more problems.

Guy,
Give me a call at (319) 636-2244 Mon-Fri 8am-5pm C.S.T. so I can find out more about the symptoms you are experiencing. It may need to be sent in for repair. Thank you.

All our comments are meant well but at the end of the day Ralph is the man.
I live in the UK but a few E-Mails and a phone call soon allowed him to diagnose my problem.
Following his advise I carried out the necessary work and all is now fine.Happy detecting.Jerry.Bristol.UK.

it appears that there is a problem where the wire enters the probe. ralph told me to send it in and he would fix it for me. thanks everyone for the responces...guyt.
