WW2 airbase need help IDing

I found this at a WW2 air base. I want to know what it is because it's not a dog tag? What does the AMB stand for and how would I go about locating this guy to give it back to him. I would love to know the history behind it.

In a 1940 census I found a Eugene Thomas Bucko which would be the right age on when he joined the military. Also found his enlistment papers.

A quick search turns up a Bucko Eugene T Bucko (1925-1999) who enlisted at Ft. Sheridan, Ill., in 1944. He was living in Chicago as of the 1940 census records.

No guarantee that he's your guy, but there's a pretty good chance. A place to start, at least.

I have found some things on him so far.

AMB - Aviation Maintenance Battalion. Perfect match since it is an old army airfield.
