WW II Site

I've always been a little jealous of everyone that lives close enough to Civil War sites to actually find some really neat stuff. I've had to be content with old home sites for the most part. Well I've just gotten permission to hunt on a WW II training facility. Approximately 200,000 men went through there during the war. It's not as old as I would like perhaps, but there is a lot of stuff there. We've located a bivouac area where they camped and dug foxholes. Quite a bit of equipment, such as shovels, one bayonet, fired and unfired rifle shells, trenching tool, a whiskey bottle, (right next to the trenching tool), buttons, quite a few wheat pennies. And this is only after two trips. We've also found a lot of k ration cans, and food packages. The last trip I found two alluminum coffee packages with the instructions clearly visible. I've learned that this was supposedly some of the first instant coffee. It may not be Civil War, but it is fun.

Good deal Deacon but be careful. I found a 40mm anti aircraft round on a Civil War battlefield last Monday and the bomb squad came and blew it up Sunday...d2
