WTB: GOLD LIBERTY COIN

I'll be glad to get it and take a picture if necessary. Look up the value on the internet, it's a 1986 W proof 50 dollar American Eagle Bullion coin. It's the first year the U.S. mint started making them. Approx value is around 1650.00 to 1800.00 dollars.

Thanks,

The $50 Gold Eagles are the modern one ounce gold coin. 1986 to date.

i DONT MEAN TO BE RUDE BUT,they dont make a $50.00 gold coin? 1,-21/2,5,10,20 last i checked

...you're right for the pre-1986 coins (except you left out the $3 gold coin - and maybe some others I don't know about), but the one ounce new stuff has a $50 face value.

No one is trying to be rude, we are all trying to help you. To the best of my knowledge, there is no such U.S. coin as a $50 gold Liberty.

What about this 1991 U.S. 1 OZ $50 GOLD Walking Liberty ?

That is a Gold Eagle as I stated in an earlier post, but you can call it whatever you want. :rage:

I stand corrected, but it is still a Walking Liberty IMO and a lot of us numismatists feel the same.

2010 American Gold Eagle G$50 1 oz (Brilliant Uncirculated) Condition. American Eagle Since 1986 a rendition of sculptor Adolph A. Weinman?s wondrous ?Walking Liberty? has styled the Obverse of the American Eagle coin. Symbolizing vigilance and resolute faithfulness to duty, Weinman?s original design graced this Nation?s first circulated half-dollar coin in 1916.
Then ?Liberty? walked again in 1907 when the Saint-Gaudens design first appeared on the US $20 (Double Eagle). The American Eagle Proof program was introduced in 1986 with the sale of gold and silver proof coins. Platinum was added to the American Eagle Proofs in 1997. The United States Mint produces Proofs and Bullion Finishes of American Eagle coins with a $50 face value, available in limited mintage. Terms ?Proof? and ?Bullion Finishes? refer to the US Mint?s specialized minting process and the Official Certificate of Authenticity. American Eagle ?
Gold The Obverse design features a rendition of Augustus Saint-Gaudens? full length figure ?Lady Liberty with Flowing Hair?. In right hand, a torch; in her left hand, she holds an olive branch. Reverse design (sculptor Miley Busiek) depicts a soaring Eagle with olive branch flying above a nest with a mate and hatchlings. These coins have the inscriptions of the denominations, the weight of the metal content, the year of minting or issuance, the words "Liberty," "In God We Trust," "United States of America," and "E Pluribus Unum," and feature a reeded edge.

American Eagle Gold Proofs and Uncirculated coins are available. The American Eagle Gold Uncirculated coin is available in 1/10, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 ounce sizes, as well as a complete four-coin set containing one coin of each size. The mint process for Uncirculated coins is similar to the minting procedures used to create the magnificent American Eagle Proofs. In 2006 the US Mint started American Eagle Uncirculated Coins are hand-loaded, struck on specially burnished blanks and carry the "W" mint mark of the United States Mint at West Point. Gold Eagle ? 10th Anniversary Commemorates the 10th anniversary of American Eagle Coin Production...
Confused: how do the years add-up to a 10th anniversary in 1995 and a 20th anniversary in 2006? Answer: 1995 10th anniversary commemorates the 10th anniversary of American Eagle Coin Production. Again the 20th anniversary commemorates the American Eagle Coin Program. Gold Eagle ? American Liberty Series The goal of collecting any series is to acquire one of each date and mintmark issued for a particular coin design, usually including any major design changes. For example, NGC has introduced the American Liberty Series, a suite of four labels for the Silver, Gold, and Platinum Eagles. These Label designs showcase elements from the Obverse design of these coins on a gradient background. All dates, mint marks, proof and mint state issues of US bullion coins are eligible, but no pedigrees or early release designations are available in conjunction with the American Liberty Series labels.
