Are these coils that hard to find used? My CZ5 may not be the deepest so I thought this coil might help here in Illinois. Funds for a new one aren't in the budget right now. Can increased depth be expected over the 8"?
Rob, they are out there, just be patient and one will come along. I have the 5", 8", and the 10 1/2" coils for my CZ5 and the big coil gets the most use in plowed fields and other areas where trash isn't a major problem. You must either hipmount or chestmount your CZ5 to swing the big coil for any period of time without wearing your arm out. I'm not sure why you are saying your CZ5 may not be the deepest. I live in west central Illinois myself and my CZ5 will hit a silver dime at 10 plus inches pretty easily. You can expect 2 or so more inches of depth from the big coil, but coverage is what you are really gaining. It is a great coil for old groves and homesites in farm fields that aren't super trashy. The big coil is also hot on deep coins on edge. If you don't have the 5 inch coil for your CZ5, I'd suggest maybe getting that coil first because it is really great in trashy areas and the depth of it will amaze you..........HH
Eventually a 10.5 will show up. That's OK, I can wait. I see where Kellyco doesn't have them in stock now. I don't want to spend the money for a new one anyway. I'm not sure if I need one but I could use all the depth I can get here in Illinois. My CZ5 won't do the 12" on a dime like some Tom has done.
Where I am located you need to go deeper or unmask the silver out of the trash. The only easy silver is in private yards. I live too close to the big city to find friendly yard owners.
