WS5 vs Deteknix headphones

I have hearing aids and am using the WS5's so I don't know how good or bad they are so I'm asking all of you that have used both the WS5's and the new Deteknix headphones which ones sound the best. I'm sure that I do miss targets that I have trouble hearing so I wonder if the Deteknix would be any better or not. I have the WS4's and don't use them unless I need them for a back up.
thanks for the input

Gene Man,
I have both sets and you know I'm almost always wearing the WS5s. That being said I was very impressed with the sound from the Deteknix. I think it is crisp and well done. I am a believer in full cuff headphones for detecting as it for sure helps you hear the more faint signals by blocking out the noise from around you. The cost is quite nice too.

Gene,
As we get older we lose parts of our hearing. Happens to all of us. You are let's say "tone deaf" to certain parts of the sound spectrum. Before I say what I'm going to say lets agree on a couple of things about the Deus.

1 If you put the coil over a target the Deus will assign a TID# and make a sound of some sort based on that TID#.

2 The sound that it makes for a given target is set by you. If you have set your Unit for 2 tones then the unit will make one or the other of the two tones
for example 150 and 800.

3 If you are running Full Tones then the Deus will assign a tone based on the TID of 0-100.

4 When you encounter a target and get a tone there will be a Nuance to the sound. Example would be a nice clean sound a sharp sounding tone or raspy or broken sound.
You will get this Nuance of the tone whether you have set your unit to give you a tone of 150 or 800 for a TID of 72. The Nuance will be there.

Here's my point to you. I see no advantage in using full tones as your tonal setting or 3 tone or 4 tone or any other if you can't hear the tones. I say use the power of the Deus to help yourself. Pick 2 or 3 tones that you know you can hear well and use those tones and miss nothing. Next. Turn up your Audio RESP. to 4 or 5 and hear all targets for sure. Digging targets based on faintness of the target sound is just asking to miss targets.
My program is set for 5 tones but the key to it is that its a Tone Break system. There are only 3 tones used in my 5 tone setting. Targets grunt at me give a mid tone or a high tone that's it.

I have been trying the full tones for some time now and I do like them but with full tones you can't control the iron as much as you can with multi-tones that's for sure. There are so many squeaks in full tones that it masks the high tone chirps. As much as I like the full tones I am going to try to use your settings for woods cellar holes and come up with a program for other types of detecting. I have to cry uncle on the full tones it appears.
thanks for the input, I do appreciate it Todd man.

Hello Todd. I am using the Hot program and the full tones. I use the eliptical coil in this also----what little time that I have used it. What is the program that you recommend for the low frequency and the high eliptical. I have noticed a lot of fine squeaks at the end of the low tones if I am explaining it correctly and it turns out to be iron. And, with the eliptical at 28 khz, after opening up the hole, from a fine squeak it will be a rusted square nail until it is on top of the ground and then it gives a bad-udeniable double-burp. I try and not look at the visual unless unless by accident. I relic hunt in moderate to harsh red clay soil.

I use my same program with the elliptical coil set at 28 kHz. I find it to be very good at identifying iron.

I have elliptical HF coil.
Have run around 200 hours.

One thing about HF elliptical, a nail standing more or less straight up in the ground, Deus will sound off on pretty good.
Never really saw this using LF coils with some serious hours using.
You likely will notice when you dig these nails, you'll miss when digging.
Will be off to the side somewhat.
I run primarily 28.8khz too using elliptical.

A real killer of a coil in my book.

Thank you fellows for the imput. Todd, is that the program that is on youtube? If it is I will certainly give it a try. And, Squirrel I have been using the Hot program and at 28 khz. Some time real rusty square nails will give me a good squeal until I get it out of the ground. Then, it will give me the double-grunt on top of the ground. Also, I dug a square nail about 4 inches down in red-clay soil and it gave a good signal. It looked as if it had been driven straight down into the ground. I had a hard time with deciding which HF coil to buy. Squirrel, you kind of help me decide on the eliptical. I was lucky enough to get over a bullet the other day. But, you know, I think it was on 14khz because I had turned it off for a short time before and the 14khz is the default on the Hot program. I think I am telling you correct. I really hope the 28khz will be good for civil war relics such as bullets. Thanks again for your help........

Hi, it's not on YouTube yet. It can be found at my site. Cttodd.com. For use with a HF coil all settings are the same but use 28khz.
